Our Hotel

Venus Hotel was established in 1985 as a wooden colonial structure out of Mahogany and Santa Maria wood by Daniel Silva Jr which was originally a house and he converted it to Venus Hotel and Venus Variety Store that was on the ground floor.

In 1998 Mother Teresita Silva Galvez and Sister Maria Preston Silva purchased the property from Daniel Silva. They both went straight to work to concreting the building because there was an alarming amount of fires on the Burns Avenue.

In 2015 Maria’s youngest son Matthew Preston took over management and added his engineering skill to compliment to hotel room to modern times. Photos below is Venus Hotel during its construction stage by Daniel Silva.

Venus Hotel FAQ’s

Fiona’s Café at Midas, our sister hotel, has the nicest breakfast and burgers in town.

Many restaurants are only a few minutes walk away down the main avenue from Venus:

  • Martha’s Kitchen, Guava Limb, Ko-ox-hanah.
  • Many more are only a 5 minute taxi ride:
  • The Hive, The Wine House, and Tolacca Steak House, to name a few.

There are many things to do without needing a guide or transportation, from simple Restaurant & Bar hopping on Burns Avenue, to the more adventurous:

  • The Iguana Sanctuary
  • Xunantunich Maya Ruins Site
  • Cahal Pech Archaeological Site
  • San Ignacio Butterfly Farm & Agouti Trail

All of these activities can be accomplished in 1 day.

We offer transfers to and from the airport, and anywhere else in the country through our Sister Company Tukan Travel.

Venus Hotel is in center of San Ignacio and the Farmers market is only 2 blocks or a one minute walk away.

We highly recommend doing the Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) Cave tour!
We would consider it as medium adventure.

If you would like some more extreme adventure… then we recommend the Crystal Cave. Just note that the ATM tour has more Mayan Artifacts.

Mountain Pine Ridge Water Falls only 40 minutes away, and if you want to really escape some heat. then Big Rock Waterfalls is the place to be!
